Thoughts..
.. mostly that this blog is so internal and, lately, un-newsy, uninformative, uninformed , and kinda .. floating. Purrhaps I should close it down? Call it an interesting experiment in writing about travels and leave it at that?

It depends if doing it is of value to you. It is for you :)
I think that a blog needs a theme, to maintain motivation to do it, and attract a readership. And since you've been back from the Big Trip, you haven't had a theme, and haven't updated much. You could keep it as a travel journal and go quiet until the next trip. Or choose something else you want to write about - colours, quilts or crafts perhaps.
But it's you that's writing - so it's your choice. You have no duty to maintain it if it isn't fun to do.
